I came back at it with fresh eyes in the mooring and I started adding and repositioning the fish I'd already drawn, which was already an improvement but I think it was the different colours of the fish that really made the change. I had been thinking of them as one whole when they are lots of individuals coming together (like the song). The texture in the background also helped as well as creating a better sense of depth.
